Here are five top coffee cafés in Essex County that promise to provide that needed jolt, relaxation and a little something to eat, too!

The Corner, 115 Grove St., Montclair. No Essex County café on Yelp has more reviews—and highly rated ones at that. Gourmet coffees and teas, pastries and a savory menu you can enjoy while watching the chef in the open-kitchen dining room. Customers claim any wait is worth it.

Blue Hippo Coffee, 662 Bloomfield Ave., Verona: Cozy and welcoming, the name just about says it all. Try the cold brew coffee and the avocado toast at this community-oriented shop. Come hungry.

Twisted Tulip, 277 Eisenhower Pkwy, Livingston: Meet the area's newest independent coffee shop. Yelpers love the atmosphere, comfy chairs and snacks.

Urban Leaf Café, 182 D Kingsland St., Nutley. Unique desserts and oh what they can do with Spam (yes, the canned meat!) on their pan-Pacific menu. But don’t leave without a cup of coffee or try the Coffee Bubble tea (or any of the other “bubble” items on the menu).
